At our Board meeting last week we discussed the need to have some of our members take the lead on two of our major projects – the IT program in May and the Fun Run in August. Both projects need work to commence in February. If you can take a lead role or perhaps assist please let me know asap. We also discussed the positions needed on the Board for next year. The President role is still calling.
On Saturday I attended the President’s meeting and the District AGM. A couple of interesting projects were raised including Days for Girls (days for girls.org) and Wheelchairs for Kids (wheelchairsforkids.org). Have a look at their websites to see the interesting and very worthwhile work they are doing.
We also looked at some proposals about changes to Rotary “rules”. One is that it be mandatory to have a Strategic Planning Committee. Another was to make it mandatory that we report volunteer hours and a third was that the number of people on the legislative assembly be reduced. Details should be sent out soon and I”ll share them with you.
This Friday there is no morning meeting as we have our end of year party at Fournos at 6:30 pm. Don’t forget to wear an item of clothing, hat or flag that identifies your country of origin, your adopted country, country of residence or any country you like. Fournos is at 56 Delhi Road North Ryde.
On 8 December not only will we have our AGM but Ana will also give us her presentation about her year in Australia. Josh will also be along to officially receive his blazer.
We are also trying to arrange to meet Anna’s parents. They will be in Sydney for Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January. I’ll let you know what we can organise.
Here is a summary of the next few weeks: President’s meeting, Party 1 December, AGM 8 December, BBQ at Cox’s Rd and the distribution of the Tree of Joy gifts on 16 December and finally the Carols on 17 December. Then a few weeks off before our new year breakfast at Caffe Incontro at Cox’s Mall on 19 January 2018.
See you at the party.
