Two events last week went well. Firstly, the thank you breakfast held in conjunction with Macquarie Park Rotary for our Christmas Carol Sponsors was well attended with about half a dozen external sponsors and of course our colleagues from Macquarie Park. Roseanna Gallo showed a photo compilation from the Carols and Rob Wilkinson gave a short presentation about ROMAC. It was, I think, a pleasant informal morning.
On Saturday the Pearl Beach Opera in the Arboretum was a another lovely afternoon of good music and fellowship. We had a barbecue at Ian’s and my place and then went around to the Arbo. I thought we had the prime spot but unfortunately a few interlopers used our tarp. Next time I will put out a larger one! It was sad that a few of those who had intended to come could not. While it was not the sunny day we had on Sunday, the rain did hold off. Pam took a few photos which I am sure she will put on the bulletin page and I did some video snippets I’ll play at one of our meetings.
There will be Jazz in the Arboretum on Sunday 1 October so maybe we can have another weekend up there. Simon Tedeschi (fantastic pianist) and George Washingmachine (group act with quite a following at The Basement) are the two acts.
I went to the Ryde Club meeting on Tuesday night and discussed with them the possibility of them helping us with the Fun Run. They are keen to help but also want to learn from us as they are thinking of running a fun run in October.
Our Board meeting is Friday 31 March at 7:15 am at DLC. Any member is welcome to attend. We will finalise which members are attending the District Assembly on 23 April and which portfolios would be best for us to attend.
This Friday we will also have our first meeting with the colleges re the Fun Run. 9:00 am at Robert Menzies College if you can join us.
I will be at PETS (President Elect Training Session) on Saturday and at our next meeting at DLC on 7 April we will welcome our new member Mandy Van. It has been wonderful to get to know Mandy over the last few weeks and I look forward to her being a member and to getting to cement a friendship.
