President's Message

Dear Club Members and Friends,

Another busy week for everyone.  Pam, Gwen, David and I spent an hour or so on a Tuesday sorting through the donations we have for the participant's bags for the Fun Run. Lots of good stuff and more to come. Don't forget on Friday 26 August we will be putting everything in the bags at Terries place in between taking a few bites of pizza - 6:30 pm.

Lots of members have been out letter dropping the Fun Run flyers. We might all be fit enough to run the 5 k! John Alexander is registering to run so we hope that will garner some extra interest.

We missed Asim last week as he had an unexpected family matter but when all is well again he'll be able to share his expertise.

Julie Stone-Powell's operation went well but unfortunately she had a bit of reaction with her heart. Brian said on Tuesday afternoon she was improving so our thoughts are with her.
Hopefully we will welcome Barbara back this week.

It is a good week to come back as Sharon Levingstone will be telling her story. Looking forward to it.  After the meeting we have a Fun Run meeting at Robert Menzies for those involved in planning, or anyone else who wants to pop in.

On Saturday we have a team of ten at the Rotaract trivia night ably led by David. Will they win again? And of course it has been education week so lots of bus have been visiting schools - great fun.

Have a good week. See you Friday.

Best regards
Victoria Crawford

News From Maggie, Mike and Damien
Maggie and Mike have returned home and published a blog about the final leg of their journey. See here to read about it. Welcome home Maggie and Mike!

Damien Demaret asked Maggie to pass on the following good news to the Club.

He took the examinations to get into the Belgium Military Academy when he got back home. He did not get into the Academy itself but he did get into Academy’s preparation school and will spend a year there preparing for next year’s contest. This is a big step forward and better than 75% of the candidates who did not get this far. He is one of the lucky 20 civilians who made it. This year 80% of those going into the Military Academy were from this preparation school so his chances are good. He says he misses Australia a lot.
