President's Message

Dear Club Members and Friends,

It was a pleasure to chair my first breakfast meeting and the first regular meeting of the new calendar year last Friday. The highlight was definitely Juliet Chen’s talk. It was good to hear more about her varied and interesting story. Her presentation also gave us insight into her personal ideals and the congruence of her ideals with those of Rotary International. We are fortunate to have Juliet as a member of our Club.

Last Friday also marked the beginning of our trial of a 7.15am start and 8.15am finish. We struggled with some teething problems, but still started and finished a little earlier than in the past. David Martin has negotiated with Dunmore Lang College, and we expect access to the College to improve. Remember to arrive in time for the 7.15 start this week if you possibly can.

Our first social evening for 2018 is on at Basil’s at 6.30pm on 23rd February. You should already have received information from David, and he is looking for bookings. I’m sure it will be an evening of good dining and good fellowship.

Kind regards
Brian Powell
President 2017-18

Seeking More Participants for RLI Course 45 Starting 18 February

We have a good panel of participants coming together for RLI 45 and I would like to bolster that so we have provision for last minute inabilities, which do happen.

Doing RLI strengthens your members and your Club and, now only a two day course, it is easier for Rotarians to make the time for RLI.  Please contact members in your club and encourage them to register for RLI 45.

RLI 45 consists of two parts over Saturdays:

  • 18 February and 18 March

and is held at the District office in Thornleigh.  Sessions start at 8:00am for an on-time 8:30am start and finish at 4:00pm.

Register at:  rli.rotarydistrict9685.org.au

Cost: $75 and includes lunch and morning/afternoon teas.

Rotarians who have partially completed RLIs prior to today and wish to do individual parts can still do so on the two day course.  Contact PDG Ian Scott for registration by response to this email.
