President's Message

Dear Club Members and Friends,

While we did not have all sponsors and helpers at the meeting last week, it was wonderful to have those who were there and to give out the certificates of participation to those sponsors.  See the group photo.  I am in the process of hand delivering or posting the other certificates.

I was contacted after the meeting by Lauren McLLelan, who is funded through Australian Rotary Health to evaluate an online treatment program for youth with anxiety.  She is trying to reach rural communities who otherwise would struggle to have access to effective interventions and so I have put her in touch with Terry Davies from ARH to discuss the project he raised about caravans going out to rural communities to discuss mental health next year.  Hopefully this will add to both her research and the ARH project.

You should all have received the Constitution and the By-laws to be voted on at the AGM this week and have considered if you could serve on the Board.  It would be great to have some newer members join the Board as it is a great way to learn more about Rotary but also to bring your ideas and expertise to our Club.

We have a second RYLA candidate, Toby Waller from the Customer Service Team at Johnson & Johnson.  He will come along to a meeting in the new year so we can hear about his role in J&J and what he intends to do after the RYLA training.

Two containers are being loaded for Sri Lanka next Saturday 3rd December and Donations in Kind would very much appreciate help

Don’t forget our end of year party at Terrie McConnell’s home on Friday 9 December, 6:30 for 7:00 pm..  Scrumptious food, great friends – it will be a truly festive occasion.  If you haven’t filled in the attendance sheet please do so today so we can cater appropriately.  Partners, children and friends are all welcome.

Saturday 17 December is the annual BBQ at Cox’s Rd and the giving of the Tree of Joy gifts to various charities.  Ray White Real Estate in Cox’s Rd is joining us in collecting gifts again this year and will raffle two bikes with proceeds coming to the Club.  They will also sell tickets at the Carols.  I had a lovely cup of coffee with four of their staff on Monday and look forward to building the relationship and working on more projects over the coming years.

I will discuss the jobs needed for the carols after our final planning meeting on Thursday night.  The Carols is on Sunday 18 December.  We will need as many members as possible so please make sure you have marked the date in your diary.

Don’t forget our first week back in January will be the 13th with a breakfast at Seb’s in Cox’s Rd.  Our first DLC meeting will be Friday 20 January.

We will have a Board meeting Wednesday 18 January at Liane’s home.  6:30 pm.

Looking forward to the end of year party and the carols – then a rest.

Best regards
Victoria Crawford
