President's Message

Dear  Club Members and Friends,

I’m sorry I was out of commission last Friday, and missed both the Board meeting in the morning and the social occasion in the evening. I hope both went well.

I think you probably all know by now why this was so. Julie was informed the previous day that unexpectedly she was able to have her cardiac ablation on Friday morning, which she did. The success of the operation exceeded the most optimistic expectations. All observations after the operation, both immediately on Friday and on the Saturday, showed that her pacemaker was doing its job and her heart was functioning well. Both Julie and her doctors were thrilled. She was able to come off her primary heart medication (the one which has serious side effects) immediately and declared that she hadn’t felt so well in months.

You might well see her at some Rotary function soon. Thank you to all those who have been thinking of her and of me.

Kind regards
Brian Powell
President 2017-18

Waterline Challenge Project

Help Bronwyn and Dr Foot Solutions to sponsor the 2018 Waterline Challenge Goal:

Raise $2 million for 10 charities this November

The Waterline Challenge is for all Australians to participate, to carry out any physical activity (walk, swim, cycle, wheelchair etc) in their own local area this November, committing to raise only $200 each, for one of the nominated charitable organisations. 2018 will see 10,000 partici- pants, including Rotary and Surf Lifesaving, both participant and beneficiaries. The Waterline Challenge has been set up by Bronwyn’s friend, Julian Day, however, he needs our assistance to achieve his dream and this goal.

How can you help?

Your contribution of a modest $60 (+gst) will help Bronwyn and staff to devote time, energies and resources to ensure our sponsorship of this event. Without this support of cash flow, Bronwyn is simply unable to devote the time required to make this event a success. This event is an important part of getting out the foot strengthening Barefoot Science message as part of our brand development as well as social engagement

For the third year in a row, Bronwyn, Julian and a third walker will be raising community and media awareness of the Waterline Challenge by walking in QLD – this year Bundaberg to Rockhampton, 181 km between June 8th-16th, the third leg of our QLD walks, whichstarted in Brisbane.

What will you get for your $60 + $6gst?

  1. 1)  A feel good factor when your $60 helps seed $2 million for important charities

  2. 2)  The opportunity to register your participation in the Waterline Challenge event free, if you

    would like to participate.

  3. 3)  Bonus photobiomodulation (laser) therapy at your next appointment for pain, soft tissue or

joint injury relief and healing. Value $80.

See here for more information.
