Dear Club Members and Friends,
It was great to be back last week with Rotary friends and get back into the thick of things. I want to thank you all again for working together so well on the IT project and in organising the Changeover. Lyndal Howison visited us just to see what we do and enjoyed the meeting and the obvious friendship and enthusiasm we show for our various projects. If you know someone who is interested in finding out more about the club, invite them along as a guest – never know where it might lead.
And what a wonderful meeting for a guest to attend. Ana gave us a wonderful presentation about her three weeks on safari. To Woop Woop and back. She’s an Aussie now.
Don’t forget that it would be good if you could pay this week for the Changeover, $50.00 per head and your annual dues, $250.00 or $125.00 for six months.
Also if you are coming to the Dine Below the Line meal on 28 July we need your donation by 30 June. Pay whatever you would usually pay for the Rotary Social Night. I promise a tasty, nutritious meal. Proceeds go to Oaktree – young people leading a movement to end poverty.
Pat is still seeking donations for the raffle for the Chageover and she would like them this Friday so she can wrap them and sort out exactly what we have.
Unfortunately Binoe is in hospital. David will keep in touch with him and we wish him a speedy recovery. Ann Fitz-Gibbon has also been in hospital but I think is on the mend.
Planning is well underway for the Fun Run on 27 August. There will be a job (or two) for everyone. Please make sure you have put the date in your calendar and ask friends, relatives and colleagues to be runners or perhaps to help out on the day. The Centre for Emotional Health, Macquarie University is again partnering with us and will run two workshops on youth mental health. The first is on Wednesday 26 July, 6:00 to 7:00 pm about Youth Social Anxiety and the second will be on Thursday 3 August, 6:00 to 7:00 pm about Overcoming Procrastination in Adolescence. When I have the venue and web link I will publish it. If you can volunteer to help on one of those nights with handing out information about the Fun Run and making some tea or coffee it would be great. Please let me know.
Garry and Rob are continuing with the plans for the Golf Day Friday 20 October. Please give them a hand as the date gets closer and on the day – or register and have a round of golf.
Our other project for the year is the Carols on the Common with Macquarie Park. Planning meetings will start soon and are usually held on a Wednesday evening. It would be good if someone who has not been involved before could join me to represent the club and help with the work that needs to occur beforehand. Have a think about it and talk to me so I can fill you in on what is needed.
I am not sure when the Board meeting will be held as I am away the entire week after the Changeover. I will talk to Board members and see what works best.
Well, I certainly think that means I am back into the thick of things. See you Friday.
Kind regards
Victoria Crawford
