Dear Club Members and Friends,
It is wonderful to welcome back David Martin this week as well as our guests who sponsored or helped us in many ways for the Fun Run. David, of course did so much as the Project Director. We also owe Gwen a huge thank you for all she did. And so from me as President I again thank all the sponsors, members and others who helped on the day. It was a great success and we hope to build on it for next year.
Terry Davies from Australian Rotary Health is attending to receive our cheque and Melissa Norberg from the Centre for Emotional Health to receive money for the Cool Kids program.
Last week I gave a short presentation on the Rotary Foundation – our own charity. It was with great pleasure that I presented Mak Khalil with a Paul Harris Emerald Pin which the Foundation sent to honour Mak for years of generous donations to the Foundation. I have quite a few money boxes if you’d like one. All that small change can soon add up – just fill the box or the centurian coin column and give it to Brian. He’ll send it on to the Foundation in your name.
Annette starts her chemotherapy treatment today and our thoughts are with her. She has a well known and respected doctor and so we all hope for a good outcome. Her daughter is staying with her at the moment.
Tom is home from hospital so Pam Bennett has her hands full. She is chasing up RYLA as it appears our application has gone missing. I am sure it will be sorted out.
Pam Wood is sending out the final papers for the AGM. You should all have the Constitution and the By-laws (although these will be slightly changed as a result of our discussion on 11 November) and she will send the audited accounts. Hopefully we will be able to revisit the visioning as well as conduct the elections.
There is a Welcome to Rotary seminar on Wednesday 7 December to give an overview of Rotary programs. Anyone may attend but particularly our newer members. It will be held at the Rotary District offices, unit 3/7 Sefton Rd Thornleigh. 6:30 pm for 7:00 pm. Register online through Club Runner.
Thursday 8 December is the Christmas lunch for North Ryde Community Aid. Pat will talk to you if she needs more helpers.
Don’t forget our end of year party at Terrie McConnell’s home on Friday 9 December, 6:30 for 7:00 pm. Scrumptious food, great friends – it will be a truly festive occasion.
Saturday 17 December is the annual BBQ at Cox’s Rd and the giving of the Tree of Joy gifts to various charities. And the year will end with the Carols on 18 December. We will need as many members as possible so please make sure you have marked the date in your diary.
First week back in January will be the 13th with a breakfast at Seb’s in Cox’s Rd. Our first DLC meeting will be Friday 20 January.
And most importantly we have a Board meeting this Thursday at Liane’s home. 7:15 am!
