I hope everyone enjoyed themselves last Friday night as much as Ian and I did. We had 16 people, spent less than $28 and made $640 for the fight against poverty through Oaktree. Plus I think we were able to chat more freely than in a restaurant.
This week we have a Club Assembly to discuss what we do in the club and our plans in the near future and beyond. Please ensure you put your views on the table for us all to share.
The first mental health seminar was a great success with around 80 members of the public attending. It was a very good presentation by Professor Ron Rapee about social anxiety in young people. There was also a lot of interest in the Fun Run so let's hope we have gained some runners. David, Gwen and Mandy are attending the seminar this week on Youth Procrastination. There are 155 registered although that will probably mean about 80 who attend.
We are starting to get registrations for the fun run but need more. Please encourage your families, friends, colleagues and acquaintances to attend. In particular we are hoping to increase the corporate challenge entrants. What about asking your company or a business you have close ties with to enter?
We have banners, signs and flyers available to put in public places so please take some after the meeting and distribute or place where you can. We are also hoping that having the opening by Damien Fitzpatrick, a hooker with the Waratahs will bring some extra runners.
We have a fun run meeting next Friday at 9:00am at Robert Menzies College - all are welcome. We need to put some final details in place.
Event cinemas has supported the Rotary Fun Run with a $1,000.00 sponsorship and the Rotary Carols with $2,500.00.
They have asked me to promote a deal they have on sale from today until Friday. If interested in $8.00 tickets able to be used up until the first few days of the school holidays click on the following link.
Somewhere today, in a small South Pacific country, a child is in need of life saving and/or dignity restoring surgery for birth defects or serious trauma that is unavailable in their own country.
Rotary, through its Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) program, brings up to 50 children a year to Australia for life-changing surgery. However, we need your corporate support to raise the funds needed to pay for hospital beds, transport, services and other costs that we cannot cover by our own volunteers’ efforts
This event is the perfect opportunity to bring along clients, suppliers and employees for team and relationship building. You will all enjoy the day together, work towards a common goal and feel good about what you have achieved.
Just like Lydia Ko, golf professional and ROMAC Ambassador, you can make a real difference to a child’s life by rising to the challenge and supporting this worthy cause.
