Last week we heard what wonderful work our local schools do.  It was really good to have Sue Barrington from Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School, Erika Southam from North Ryde Public School, Marion Blomfield from Truscott St Public School and Cassy Norris from Ryde Secondary College.  It was pleasing to be able to give each school a cheque for $500.00 to help with their innovative programs.  I look forward to catching up in the near future with the two schools who could not attend, Kent Rd Public School and Ryde East Public School.

Pat Perrin presented a $250.00 cheque to us in anticipation of selling some items given to her by Les Whitcroft’s family.  Les, a longstanding Rotarian, kickstarted serious fundraising for PolioPlus in 1986.  He died on 1 August aged 97.  We thank his family for their generosity.

It was Ana’s birthday last Saturday.  She said she enjoyed the harbour cruise on Friday night and the surf training on Saturday.  We’ll have a little celebration for her at the social night this Friday.  Ana will be away in Melbourne from Saturday until 3 October and then moves to her new host family.  Don’t forget to involve her in some of your activities.

This week we have a Board meeting at DLC at 7:15 am, a meeting with the colleges about the fun run at 9.00am and a social night in the evening.  All members are welcome to any of these events.  In the evening those who can will meet at Grill’d in Macquarie Centre near the bus stop entrance.  We are one of their charities for the month so it would be good to have support.  If you can’t come on Friday night consider going there on another night out.  You simply place the token they give you in our jar and depending on the support we get we will be given some money.  Let friends and neighbours know as well.

The second planning meeting for the carols is this Wednesday 20 September, 7:45 pm at 14 AGINCOURT ROAD, MARSFIELD so if you are interested come along.  We still need a couple of volunteers to manage the BBQ and the serving of food.
