How can the year move on so quickly. Summer is over, Autumn has begun and the Trivia night is only two weeks away at the
Clive Austin Conference Centre, Royal Ryde Rehab. It would be great to have at least 10 tables so please ask friends, neighbours, work colleagues along for a great night. Could you also bring along to next week’s meeting a bottle of wine, chocolates or some other delectable delight to go into the prize pool. All the details about the trivia night are in the
attached flyer. Table should be booked by
13 February so we know how many are coming.
Rob and I went to the Carols’ debrief on Tuesday night. Unfortunately the final accounts were not available but it looks like the final amount for each club will be in the vicinity of $5,000 and around $12,000 for ROMAC. Since Macquarie Park took over the major organisation of the Carols about 6 years ago we have always had a major input in setting up, pulling down, selling food tickets and the BBQ in particular. I have volunteered that we will take the lead in organising the BBQ and the serving of food and drinks on the night this year. Please consider whether you can take on this role. Remember the Rotary Club of North Ryde started organising this event 16 years ago and it has been a major fundraising for our general charity funds and for ROMAC in particular.
We will host a sponsor thank you breakfast on Friday 31 March so mark it in your diary. Normally we would not meet on this day but it will be a combined meeting with Macquarie Park and an opportunity to thank our sponsors. We will organise a hot breakfast at $20 per head.
The
Combined Services Dinner is on
Wednesday 29 March at7:00 pm Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club. $40 per head; drinks at own cost.
The flyer is attached. Please let me now if you are interested in attending so we can arrange the booking.
Don’t forget District is calling for exchange students for 2018. We’ll contact the local schools but if you know any young people in year 9 or 10 who may be interested then talk to Pam Bennett.
Most members have taken some raffle books (10 per book - $2.00 a ticket) for the raffle to be drawn at the Trivia night on 18 March. I spent a couple of hours at Cox’s Rd and sold some tickets. I think if someone could be there form say 9:30 am to 12:30 pm there would be more shoppers around plus we really need to have the prizes on display to attract people. If you think it is worthwhile please talk to Pat and we’ll see what can be arranged.
The Conference is next week Saturday
11 March at Penrith Panthers. It is still possible to register off line if you wish to go. PETS (President Elect Training) is on 1 April. It is an opportunity to learn more about Rotary and the role of the president so if you are interested see me and we can arrange registration. If you are on the Board from July 2017 then please register for the District Assembly on 23 April. Registrations are open now, just click on this link:
assembly.rotarydistrict9685.org.au
Registrations close on 16 April 2017.
The Golf Day is booked in with North Ryde Golf Club for Friday 20 October. Please check your calendar to see if you are available on the day and assist Garry and Rob in any of the pre-work as required.
And of course the Fun Run on 27 August is still front and centre in our planning. We are still working on the 10km option so watch this space.
See you Friday.
