President's Message

Dear Club Members and Friends,

It was an interesting meeting last week.  Helen Rainger explained very clearly the background to Palestine and Israel and that politics is never far away.  It prompted many questions.  For those who want to know more about the Palestine Ecumenical Network (PIEN) their website is https://pien.org.au/.

This Friday is a Board meeting, 7:00 am for 7:15 am at DLC.  Any member is welcome to attend but please let me know to ensure catering.

As the end of November approaches early bird registration for the District Conference will close.  The conference is on Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 March 2018 in Leura.  For details go to – www.conference2018.rotarydistrict9685.org.au.  Check it out for the full program.  Full registration $280.  Accommodation extra.  Come along for a great weekend.

We have had 1 December set aside for our end of year party for quite a while.  David has booked Fourno’s at 6:30 pm.  This will be the North Ryde World Peace and Harmony Christmas Party.  Wear an item of clothing, hat or flag that identifies your country of origin, your adopted country, country of residence or any country you like.  Invite friends and let’s have some fun.  Even dual citizens can attend.  Fourno’s is a pizza, pasta restaurant and reasonably priced.  56 Delhi Road North Ryde.  David has sent out more details and will ask you via email if you can come.  I do hope you can all attend.  Partners, children, friends, relies – all are welcome.

On 8 December not only will we have our AGM but Ana will also give us her presentation about her year in Australia.  Josh will also be along to officially receive his blazer.

We are also trying to arrange to meet Anna’s parents.  They will be in Sydney for Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January.  I’ll let you know what we can organise.

Here is a summary of the next few weeks: President’s meeting 25 November, Party 1 December, AGM 8 December, BBQ at Cox’s Rd and the distribution of the Tree of Joy gifts on 16 December and finally the Carols on 17 December.  Then a few week’s off before our new year breakfast at Caffe Incontro at Cox’s Mall on 19 January 2018.

See you at the party.

Kind regards
Victoria Crawford

Ride To End Polio

Andrew Best from Turramurra Rotary, is participating in a 170km Ride to End Polio Bike Race. http://ridetoendpolio.org/

With over 9000 cyclists, and 100 fellow Rotarians, (I am the only Australian Rotarian in the race), we are aiming to raise $10 million USD for the fight to eradicate polio. To date, I have raise $5000 USD and I am asking for your support to spread the word and share this link throughout your District to generate donations this November, Foundation Month.

Below is the link to my page. If Rotarians log in through MyRotary, their donations will be tracked and recognition points will be given. Clubs and Districts can also donate, online, or offline by contacting Andrew directly.
