We had a very magical time at the District Conference held at the Pullman Sydney in Penrith from Friday 22 March to Saturday 22 March. Wonderful guest speakers and an entertaining night on Friday at the dinner. Everyone got in the mood by dressing up with the theme The Magic of Rotary.
The conference also had a competition for schools called ‘Pitch for Purpose Student Innovation Challenge’ where schools were asked to come up with impactful community ideas which highlight enlightening ideas for a sustainable future. Our club was asked to sponsor one of the four teams from Marsden High School which made it through to the final. The impressive judges for the final were also guest speakers at the conference. Dr Alan Finkel AC (Former Australian Chief Scientist), Professor Veena Sahajwalla AO (you may remember Veena from the Inventors program on the ABC) and Jennifer Scott AM, incoming Rotary Internation Director for Zone 8. Two of the teams from Marsden High School were awarded First and Second prize, in the high school category, by the judges.
The District Assembly will be held this Saturday 5 April at Lindfield Learning Village. Some of our 2025-26 Board Members will be attending to learn more about our roles and the Avenues of Service. These training days are always interesting and informative. We still have a vacancy for the President elect role for 2025-26. If you are interested and would like more information about the role, please contact me or 2024-25 President-elect, Mandy Van.
