President's Message

Dear  Club Members and Friends,

Last meeting Peter Mason gave us an interesting talk on his Job//Life, it is interesting to know more about members.

Members spoke about what they liked most about Rotary, it was mainly two things :

 1. Fellowship- both local and international: it includes informative and intellectual speakers, social and community activities, Barbara Lee celebrated 15 years as a Rotarian, Pam Bennett attended 6 Rotary International Conventions, Rob Wilkinson was hosted by a Rotarian in Dubai and I started" The International Travel Fellowship of Rotarians"  when I was a member of the Rotary Club of Sulmaniya in Bahrain early 70's.

2 . Rotary overseas charity work:  particularly ROMAC and eradicating Polio.

This week we welcome our guest speaker  Professor Amanda Barnier,  Dean Research in the Faculty of Human Science at Macquarie University  will speak on " Why remaining together is crucial as we age. The importance of healthy communication collaboration and hearing". See here for more information.

Kind regards
Mak Khalil
President 2019-20

FREE Seminar on Youth Mental Health 17 July 2019

The Rotary Club of North Ryde in partnership with the Centre for Emotional Health is pleased to present a FREE community information evening for parents, carers and teenagers on dealing with academic procrastination in youth.

The seminar will be held at the Hearing Hub, Level 2 Lecture Theatre at Macquarie University.

Join us on Wednesday 17 July from 6:00 pm to 7p.m. to hear about Dealing with academic procrastination in youth presented by Dr Carolyn Schniering.

Stress around academic performance is very common during adolescence as pressures at school escalate. Increased stress has been shown to be related to worry and procrastination around school work, and reduced self-esteem around work. This free seminar covers evidence based strategies for overcoming procrastination in youth.
