I do hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well and safe. It appears we are in for another spell of a bit of damp weather! Make sure you stay high and dry! It was nice to experience a spell of relatively dry weather over the Easter weekend and I hope you all put the fine conditions to good use?
I would like to thank Sandeep for filling my shoes last week, with his entertaining bulletin, while Bernie and I had a few days away. Thank you, Sandeep. We had a family birthday at Wellington (out west) followed by 4 nights in Orange with friends. The evenings and nights were getting that little bit cool out there, but still very pleasant.
Bernie and I hope you all had a pleasant and relaxing Easter weekend and did not over-indulge in too many eggs? We must get moving in the eFun run now, to move those extra calories! Speaking of the eFun run which starts this coming weekend (24 April 2022), I have noted that not many of our Club members have signed on to help raise the much-needed funds, through your own family and friend’s sponsoring’s. This is for our good causes of Youth Mental Health (in association with Macquarie University) and Australian Rotary Health. Please all sign on soon.
We had a quiet start last Friday as there was no meeting, however, be awake early this Friday morning (22 April 2022) for our Club meeting (7:15am for 7:30am). We are having our first face-to-face breakfast meeting at Dunmore Lang College.
As Garry has previously advised:
Where: Dunmore Lang College, 130 Herring Road, Macquarie Park.
There is an 'Entry' drive in and 'Exit' driveway on Herring Road. Please lookout for roadworks around the 'Entry' and 'Exit' points.
After driving in the 'Entry' point turn right and drive down the driveway to the boom gate, before the carpark. You will need to enter a code to open the boom gate. You may also need this code to exit the car park.
Boom Gate Code: 1032
Please arrive at 7:15am for breakfast
Meeting start time: 7:30am
Meeting finishing time: 8:30am
Please bring $20 in cash for breakfast.
Please bring a gold coin for 'Heads and tails'.
The meeting will also be on zoom. Thank you, Garry, for arranging this.
Also remember we have our Bunnings BBQ at Gladesville, this Saturday the 23 April 2022. The more volunteers to help, the lighter the workload for all attending, so let Garry know of your availability. Thank you, Garry.
As I have previously mentioned, Garry has also put together a list of future dates of the BBQs at Bunnings store at Gladesville for you to put in your diaries please.
Remember to put the date 24 June 2022 in your diaries for our Club Change-over dinner. The dinner will be at North Ryde R.S.L. Club. Mandy has been working on the invitation and this was in the bulletin last week. You will need to advise me if you will be attending, plus your family and friends, so we can plan tables and advise the RSL Club by the start of June.
I have previously mentioned that Rotary does have assistance programs in place for people and Clubs to raise/donate money, through RAWCS, to help the victims of the recent flood events in Queensland and northern NSW. They very much welcome cash donations so they can shop locally and help get the local economy moving. To this end, there has been a significant number of shopping vouchers that have been delivered to help those local communities and this is still ongoing. At this stage they do not want furniture or such goods as there is no way of storing or distributing these.
At the recent Rotary Conference, the Conference organisers mentioned the date for the next Rotary Conference is 17-19 March 2023 and will be at Cowra. Put this in your diaries for next year. Bernie and I anticipate being there, to enjoy the local hospitality.
I am very grateful for all the hard work and commitment by everyone in our Club during these difficult times.
