I do hope this week’s Bulletin does find you are all well and safe and that you have had a good and fruitful week both mentally and physically, whilst keeping yourselves isolated as required by the government recommendations, to look after ourselves. It was good to see everyone was well at the social get-together last Friday evening.
We had no meeting last Friday morning, so I hope you all enjoyed your sleep-in? However that night we did have our social get-together to do a check-up with each other. It was a hoot to participate in Juliet’s Kahoot trivia contest. There were some funny old secrets amongst the little-known facts submitted by one and all. I am jealous of David and his little yellow car from a previous life! Sandeep then followed this with some coordination exercises and memory testing (which can be tricky on a Friday evening)! I have been practicing my thumb and finger coordination exercise and I am getting better. A big thank you to both Juliet and Sandeep for their efforts to entertain us all.For photos from the evening see photo album here.
To follow this up, Juliet is organizing a Kahoot trivia night for Saturday 18th Sept. 2021 with a 6:45pm for 7:00pm start and will go for about 1 hour. Bring your nibbles and drink of your choice for an entertaining evening.
We missed our Bunnings BBQ, two weeks ago, due to the current lock-down restrictions. However, it is intended - and we are hopeful, restrictions allowing - to still have 5 BBQs before the end of June 2022.
Our other events such as the e-Trivia fundraiser night will happen at a date to be advised and the e-Fun Run is scheduled for April/May 2022.
As a result of the ongoing lock-down, there will be a virtual club Changeover this Friday during our Club meeting. We are still hoping to have our Annual Celebration dinner, when we are all allowed to get together, post restrictions. Stay tuned for further details. Bob will also be entertaining us with a talk about his past and time in Rotary.
Please be reminded that now is the time to start arranging orders with your family, friends and work colleagues for the Christmas puddings and cakes. See here for order form.
As a general enquiry, are there any general dates/events members may celebrate and would like our Club members to join in? As an example, Mandy suggested Chinese New Year!
Save the date for our District Governor, Lindsay May, who will be joining our Club meeting on 10 September 2021 to regale us with some of his sailing stories and experiences. This should be quite enlightening!
If any of the members have anyone, they know who has an interesting story to share, please let Rob know and we may be able to arrange for them to attend a Club meeting to enlighten us all.
I am very grateful for all the hard work and commitment by everyone in our Club during these difficult times, thank you.
The Rotary Club of Chatswood Sunrise’s Pudding fundraising of previous years is on again. This year it is a joint project of the Rotary Clubs of North Ryde, Chatswood/Roseville, Northbridge, Wahroonga and Turramurra!
All proceeds will go to benefit the “Books in Homes” program at Moree East Public School, where over 80% of the students come from the Aboriginal community.
The program provides “…quality books-of-choice to children living in remote, disadvantaged and low socio-economic circumstances, ensuring crucial early literacy engagement and the development of reading skills needed for lifelong achievement.” The Rotary Clubs in Moree will be our local representatives.
The attached price list has a column on the right to help you make your selections. Please then use the order form. This needs to be emailed to Andre Hariman – see information at the bottom of the form.

Shelterbox has already sent Shelterboxes to Haitii after the devastating earthquake but more needs to be done.
Their work extends to Honduras and Tigray in Ethiopia and they are also considering what can be done in Afghanistan.
ShelterBox has responded to Afghanistan on 4 occasions (2002, 2006, 2008, 2016-17), to support people displaced by the conflict as well as by extreme weather, such as floods.
While our club supports Shelterbox, if individuals can also do so, it would be of great benefit. Click on the following link to find out more.
