Dear  Club Members and Friends,

Last Friday President Elect Mandy hosted a Zoom meeting celebrating our club's 42nd Anniversary. DG Kalma McLellan. ADG Julie Thorp and DG Elect David Clark congratulated us on our achievements.

We missed Past Presidents (PPS) Pat  Perrin, Pam Wood and Victoria Crawford. PHF Barbara Lee couldn't join us and phoned. I apologised to her for the oversight of not listing her name as an active member for 16 years.

Annette Billington also couldn't attend and emailed me the following list of her activities in the past 8 years :
  1. Initial preparation and several years of Fun Run.
  2. Supplied accommodation for country kids who participated in the IT Students Tour.
  3. Was on the Board of North Ryde Community Aid & Information Inc. and worked to include integration of the two groups.
  4. Assisted Pam Bennett in the portfolio of Exchange Students.
  5. Tree of Joy, assisted PP Pat Perrin.
  6. Club member introduction of PE Mandy Van.
I spoke briefly about Minneapolis Minnesota as a friendly welcoming city during the 1974 Rotary International Convention. Also I spoke about our club which had a small membership when I joined in 1986. Membership increased over the years specially after admitting female members who have done great work.

I also mentioned that our reviewed BYLAWS have included Corporate Membership and will be promoted when circumstances permit.

Some members spoke about their activities including PP Rob Wilkinson, PP David Martin, PP Brian Powell, PP Pam Bennett, Treasurer Sandeep Rathi, Director Garry Maloney, PP Liane Corbett who has been active in supporting ROMAC and Binoe Verghese.

PE Mandy spoke about club activities and about not having the Fun Run this year. My thanks to Mandy for hosting the meeting, thanks to our guests for participating and congratulations to all our members.

Our next Zoom meeting will be on Friday 12 June at 7.30a.m. Mandy will email details to members. Friends of the club are also welcome to participate, contact Mandy for more information. PP David Martin has organised a morning tea meeting on 13 June at Blenheim Park North Ryde. The  details in this bulletin under upcoming events.

Regards
Mak Khalil

Social Dinner at Basils Seafood Restaurant 26 June 2020
Dear Fellow Club Members,

As you will be aware we had planned on having our Rotary Club Changeover Celebration Dinner at Basil’s Restaurant on Friday 26 June. But due to COVID - 19 we have had to cancel this event.
However, to support Tim at Basil’s, and with the restrictions easing from the 1st June, we are organising a club social dinner at Basil’s on Friday 26 June, starting at 7pm.
We will be in a seperate room to the main dinning room, and Tim will arrange the seating, taking into account the Physical Distancing requirements at that time. We are hoping that between 10 and 20 people will be able to attend the dinner. The dinner is for club members and partners.

Please see attached the ‘Menu’ that Tim has provided for our dinner. Drinks can be purchased separately.

Could you please let me know if you will be able to attend and the number of people attending, i.e. just you (1), you and a partner (2).
So, Friday 26 June at 7pm.
Have a look at the attached Menu and make your choice on the night.
Buy your own drinks.
How many attending.
Please let me know by Friday, 12 June, if are able to attend?
If you have any questions please contact me, on 0426230458
Thank you and stay well,
Garry Maloney

The First Rotary Virtual Convention
Mark your calendars for 20-26 June for an exciting opportunity to gather online with the family of Rotary for our first online convention.

Now More Than Ever, Rotary Connects the World: The 2020 Rotary Virtual Convention will join you with Rotary participants around the world during a time of unprecedented challenges.

Together, we’ll still experience the spirit of Rotary, be inspired by innovation, celebrate our resilience, and explore how clubs are addressing COVID-19. Experience Rotary in action during our Flag Ceremony, witness the power of connection during our general sessions, learn new ways to engage with Rotary during our breakout sessions, find inspiration from our global speakers, and much more.

We have never needed Rotary — and we have never needed each other — more than we do now. We hope to see you online, because Now More Than Ever, Rotary Connects the World.

Red Shield Appeal Digital Doorknock
Usually, at this time of year, you’ll see us Rotarians throughout local shopping centres and the like rattling buckets, waving banners, EFT machines in hand raising much needed funds for The Salvation Army on their Red Shield Appeal Weekend.

This year, due to restrictions forced upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to do that. So how can we help?

Rotary Clubs working hand in hand with The Salvos goes back many years and never before have they needed us more!
