PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Hello all and welcome to Spring. Break out those antihistamines in this family.

As we look forward to spring in Australia, our thoughts are with all in Nepal and all countries affected by natural disasters at this time. Our son Shannon is in the USA helping fight wildfires, and he says it is so dry and very hot and low humidity. Perfect fire weather. Our thoughts are with all firefighters and those affected.

The Community BBQ for Ritchies IGA North Ryde is this coming Saturday 5 September. We look forward to seeing all of who have volunteered to help from 9:00am to 1:00pm for a little bit of community fun. It is a great way to get our name out there and try to attract new members.

Pitch for Purpose. is an innovative challenge for Sydney schools, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Rotary's focus on Protecting the Environment. Students use design thinking to tackle environmental problems, then showcase their solutions to a panel of judges. We have sponsored a team from Marsden High School that has reached the finals to be held on the 19 September, at Western Sydney University.

Bookings are open to purchase tickets to be there for the final presentations. https://pitchforpurpose.replit.app/

This Friday's club zoom meeting will be a chance to exchange ideas for growing membership for our club. We look forward to hearing from Janelle Craig and Neville Hanson on this very important topic.

Please remember to check our website for dates and events being held by our Rotary Club of North Ryde.

Regards
Bernie and Peter Mason

Loud Shirt Day 16 October 2026

Dear Friend,

Today, I’d love to invite you to join thousands of people taking part in one of the year's most colourful (and gloriously unfashionable) fundraising events.

It’s called Loud Shirt Day –  a colourful celebration where clubs, teams and communities wear their boldest, brightest and most outrageous shirts to raise awareness and vital funds for children with hearing loss.

It’s simple, fun and a great excuse to swap your team colours for something a little louder. Whether it’s a "best worst shirt" competition, themed training session or colourful club day, every loud shirt helps give children the support they need to thrive.

Mark your calendar for Friday, 16 October 2026! Or join in any day that works best for you.

Here’s how Loud Shirt Day works:

On Friday, 16 October (or any day that works best for you) wear your loudest, boldest shirt and raise funds to help children with hearing loss…it’s as simple as that!

“What began as a fun idea has become a much-loved tradition. More importantly, everyone knows they're making a genuine difference.” Nathan, Loud Shirt Day participant, Keysborough Golf Club

So, are you ready to GET LOUD for children with hearing loss? 👉 Register for Loud Shirt Day today

Funds raised help provide life-changing services like speech therapy, audiology, early intervention and family support – giving kids with hearing loss the tools they need to thrive.

Register today and we'll help you get started with everything you need, including fundraising tips, resources and plenty of inspiration to make your Loud Shirt Day a success.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Loud Shirt Day team at community@shepherdcentre.org.au.

Here's to making some noise together for a great cause.

Nicola,
Loud Shirt Day Team,
The Shepherd Centre

P.S. We'd love to have you join thousands of people getting in on the fun of Loud Shirt Day. Sign up now!
