The weeks have gone fast. The Rotary theme for this year is "UNITE FOR GOOD". Last Sunday on the National Tree Day, we had a site visit for the proposed Avenue of Trees an Environmental project that is being lead by Bob Selinger OAM. Thanks Bob for leading the walk on a sunny day.
After discussions at our club strategic planning meeting and Board meeting, our club will have varied options for meetings and social activities in the future. The updated Strategic Plan will be distributed to members and uploaded onto Clubrunner when finalised. We discussed a proposal to sponsor a Rotary Youth Exchange Program (RYEP) outbound student this year. Bernie and I will interview the student and parents. We are looking at an upgrade of Clubrunner, NOVA, and plan to have a training session for members which will also include accessing My Rotary on the RI website.
With our area Rotary Community Group, Bradfield, it is great to set our club goals and focus for this year. In 2024-25 Bradfield had a focus on engaging in Respectful Relationships projects and collaborating together as clubs. Our club will continue to work together with the other clubs in the Bradfield group. One of the activities we can join in on is the Mary's House Walk planned for Sunday 26 October 2025. A number of clubs in the Bradfield group have a connection with Mary's House, in North Sydney. They would love our support at the Mary's House Walk on Sunday 26 October, particularly with BBQ on the day, if you are interested in attending, please let me know.
Proposed Bunnings BBQ dates are planned for 2026 and to be confirmed from Bunnings, we will let you know when these are confirmed. We always need volunteers to help on the day, please let Garry Maloney know if you can assist at any of the BBQs. Your helping hands are much appreciated. Thanks to Garry for organising a new Club banner, hopefully it can be used on the next Bunnings BBQ.
This year our club will support the Smith Family Student Sponsorship, Learning for life program again. We will also continue to support other important Rotary programs including the Rotary Foundation, Australia Rotary Health, ROMAC and RAWCS.
