23 September 2022
Hello Fellow Rotarians and friends,
This week – Friday 23 September 2022 - is the date for the official visit of our District Governor Mina Howard to our club. We will be holding our club meeting at Dunmore Lang College with a hot breakfast available. It will be wonderful to welcome Mina and have the opportunity to interact with her.
We will also have a working session on North Ryde eFun Run at this meeting. Thank you to all the members who completed a survey on this subject. Your views and ideas will form the basis for our working session.
The Club September Social event will be at the North Ryde RSL Bistro on Friday 30 September 2022 at 7pm. We will have a couple of tables allocated to our club at the Bistro which will accommodate 20 people; we can add more if needed.  Please RSVP if you will be attending or not, and the number of people in your group, to Garry Maloney by Friday 23 September.
Last week I cast my vote for the Regionalisation Project and in accordance with the wishes of a majority of the club members, I said YES to the Regionalisation Pilot. It is a unique opportunity to work together to develop, test and evaluate a new model of governance that best suits our region. This is a pilot that will occur whilst districts remain in place, and ongoing consultation will be a feature. Club autonomy and the provision of better support to clubs are fundamental principles that underpin the pilot.
Rotary International President Elect Gordon McInally and wife Heather will be in Sydney following the Zone 8 Conference in Canberra. This is a one-off opportunity to meet Gordon in Sydney and hear about his thoughts for Rotary in the years ahead. A ticketed lunch event is being held on Monday 31 October, 2022 at NSW Parliament House. If you wish to attend, please see more details included in the newsletter.
I thank everyone in the Club for their commitment, energy and contribution towards making a difference.

Vision 2022
Rotary Clubs from District 9685 (Sydney, Australia) and District 3262 (Odisha, India) have joined hands to support the BKP Rotary Eye Hospital and Health Centre with hospital equipment and machinery through The Rotary Foundation Global Grant.  The Town of Puri, with a population of over a million, will benefit from this project.  The location of the center in the village of Jhinkiria, about 11 KMs from Puri and densely populated with no medical facilities nearby, will help prevent avoidable blindness.
The Rotary eye care center will also create awareness among villagers about prevalent eye diseases. This will increase patient acceptance regarding the importance of routine eye examination, which will help proper identification and treatment of various eye conditions. We hope to help eye care professionals and health educators target specific educational initiatives and interventions.
We need your support to make this a reality.  Vision 202 has come forward to support this project along with Nautanki Theatre to present The Jungle Book to raise much needed funds for this project.  Click here to book your ticket and show your support.
Please note that no International Club from our district is identified, and any club can put their hand up to take part as the club contribution will come from this fundraiser if club members attend.
Yours in Rotary
