Our 2025 Youth Exchange Student, Mei Yamamoto arrived from Japan on Sunday 26 January. She was welcomed by representatives from District 9685 and members from our club and the Rotary Club of Ryde. Mei will be supported by both clubs throughout her exchange year. She will be attending Marsden High School and we look forward to getting to know her during her time with us.
Our first social breakfast for 2025 was held on Saturday 1 February at Cafe Sa Bu. it was lovely to see so many members and friends of the club attend the breakfast. It was also a great opportunity to say thank you to some of our wonderful supporters of the 2024 Tree of Joy. President Garry Maloney and Tree of Joy Coordinator, Bernie Mason presented Certificates of Appreciation and Gro-Trees. Once again, many gifts were donated to those in need from the Tree of Joy. This wouldn't have been possible with out the continued support from Cox's Road Mall, Cafe Sa Bu, Bendigo Bank North Ryde, Ritchies IGA, North Ryde Pharmacy, St John's Anglican Church and of course, the very generous local community of North Ryde.
President Garry Maloney and Rob Wilkinson, presented a Certificate of Appreciation and a Gro Tree to RG Badman Motors, Gladesville for their ongoing support of our club. Each year our club BBQ trailer needs to be registered and kept roadworthy. RG Badman Motors have generously helped us with this for many years now.
President Garry presenting the certificates to John and Robbie.
District 9685 Conference March 2025 – enjoy a magical experience like no other!
Your district team has organised for you a unique blend of fun, fellowship, learning, and inspiration. District 9685 Conference 2025 will take place on the 21st and 22nd of March, 2025, at The Pullman, Penrith. Join us!
Meet old friends and make new ones over a fun-filled day and a half. We will have magic shows, music, and dance to liven up the event. Remember to pack your dancing shoes for the Friday night dinner and dress up for the theme – The Magic of Rotary!
Clubs big and small will showcase the great work to all conference attendees including non-Rotarians and community members, through short videos and presentations. This is a unique opportunity to attract membership interest.
Learn from leaders in sustainability and humanitarianism who will present to us their thoughts on protecting the environment and doing good in the world.
Be inspired by the innovative energy of our young people. Our Schools Innovation Challenge on Protecting the Environment has had an enthusiastic response from teachers and students! Students who make to the Final stage will present to us at the showcase as they compete for prize money and an opportunity to bring their project ideas to fruition through the work of Rotary.
New member discounts are available. We are especially keen to encourage participation from anyone who joined Rotary within the last 12 months, or even a little longer but did not attend the last conference. The conference is a great way to understand the full potential of Rotary. If cost is an issue, please consider supporting them with a contribution from your club. For cases where the club board decides for the club to contribute $50 or more towards cost of registering for Saturday the 22nd, the conference team will also contribute by applying a $50 discount.
We are expanding the “bring a friend, get a discount” program. Individual club members can use it to introduce Rotary to a prospective member. Similarly, club boards are encouraged to invite non-members who provide regular support, for example your contact at the local school, or your contact at the council, or at a partner organisation that you regularly work with or are likely to do so in the near future. In such cases it is mutually beneficial that they understand the full potential of Rotary. Like with the new member encouragement discount, if cost is an issue, please consider supporting them with a contribution from your club. For cases where the club board decides for the club to contribute $50 or more towards cost of registering for Saturday the 22nd, the conference team will also contribute by applying a $50 discount.
