I am writing on behalf of the President, Mak Khalil who is currently on holidays. We have had a busy week.
The 9th Tree of Joy was held on Saturday 14 December at Coxs Rd Mall to distribute the rest of 4010 presents to five charity organizations: Smith Family, St Vincent de Paul, Macquarie Hospital, New Horizon Aged Care and North Ryde Community Aid and Information Centre Inc.
Club members Pat Perrin, Annette Billington, Pam Wood, Garry Maloney, Mandy Van and Brian Powell together with Santa shared with the center’s food and wine tasting event. There were lots of happy faces. We also gave thanks to all the businesses who have once again, supported the Tree of Joy including Richies IGA, Caffé In-contro, and North Ryde Pharmacy.
Sunday was the big event for the year – The 2019 ROTARY CAROLS ON THE COMMON at North Ryde Common which is a joint project with the Rotary Club of Macquarie Park.
Our Project Manager- Garry Maloney worked extremely hard to make the event a success together with all the members of both clubs who volunteered their time before during and after the event. Besides that, we could not do it without our sponsors and the extra support from family members and friends. Over $7000 was raised from the bucket collection including car parking and the glow sticks, and candles stall. A crowd of 15000 attended together including all the volunteers.
What’s a great effort !!!! That donations go towards the NSW Rural Fire Service (Bushfire Appeal).
To keep the ball rolling, this Saturday 21 December will be a BBQ and book stall at Cox’s Rd Mall. Thanks to David and Gwen Martin who have organized this event. Hope to see you there.
On behalf of the Rotary Club, we wish you and your family have a happy holiday and seasons greetings. See you in the new year.
