What a great session it was at our club meeting last week, hearing from OurBnB, Brian Bailey and Bob Selinger, who each spoke about their life story. I find that it is always fascinating to hear the story of our own members. We had a larger than usual turnout at the meeting which goes to show that people are interested in learning more about each other.
Couple of interesting facts that we learnt: Brian has a love for model train sets and one of the first things he purchased out of his pay from his first job as a paper delivery boy was a Hornby Train set. Bob loves writing stories and he has won awards for story writing. The members were regaled with these and many other stories. Thank you, Brian and Bob, for sharing your life experiences with us. We hope to hear from some of our other members in the coming months.
The Member Satisfaction Survey has now closed with more than 80% of our members completing the survey. It is wonderful to receive their feedback and suggestions for improvement. We will review the results of the survey at the next Board meeting and then share it with all members.
Rotary Club of Ryde is holding a community needs assessment on Wednesday, 17 August 2022 at the North Ryde RSL and has invited us to join. The Police, the City Council, and some school principals are coming together to discuss the needs in the community of the City of Ryde. It is hoped that by the end of this meeting we will find a project that will create lasting and positive change in our community. Bernie and Peter Mason will be attending this event on our Club’s behalf.
The meeting on Friday, 19 August is a Club Assembly at Dunmore Lang College. We will also arrange for members to join by Zoom if they wish to. The meeting will include a hot breakfast. Our Assistant Governor for the Riverside group of clubs, Bruce Jacob will be attending the meeting.
I thank everyone in the Club for their commitment, energy and contribution towards making a difference. I look forward to seeing you on Friday.
