27 August 2021

Hello fellow Rotarians and friends,

I do hope this week’s bulletin does find you are all well and safe and that you have had a good and fruitful week both mentally and physically, whilst keeping yourselves isolated as required by the government recommendations, to look after ourselves. It was good to see everyone was well at the club assembly last Friday morning.

There will be no Club Meeting this Friday morning, so we can all have a little sleep-in, our next Club meeting will be on 3 September 2021.

However, do remember, we are having a social get-together this Friday on 27 August at 7pm, for a lock-down sanity check on each other. Have your nibbles/dinner and a drink of your choice ready and join us. It would appear we may have to wait until late September or October at least before we can get back to any semblance of a ‘normal’ life, so let us all do our little bit and look out for each other. Please remember to send two interesting/fun facts about yourself to Juliet for the night by Thursday evening, email: juliet_chen1989@hotmail.com .

Bob has organised the details for the sale of Christmas puddings as has been done in previous years. Get your family, friends and work colleagues to put in their orders before 31st October for delivery in late November. This is a joint venture with other Clubs in our District and 2 Clubs in Moree. This is a good cause to support Moree East Public-School program ‘Books in Homes’. Thank you, Bob, for all your work in getting this up and running and remember if you need help, please ask. At our meeting last Friday, we mentioned the planning for the Christmas Carol’s joint venture with Macquarie Park Club has started. We seek ideas of how to hold a COVID safe spectacular, as it would appear the Carol’s evening we have done in previous years, may not be possible this year. Please put your thinking caps on for ideas and note that no idea is silly: we will look at all suggestions.

I received an email from Rotary E-Club of Greater Sydney who are hosting an online trivia night this Sunday 29 August 2021 starting at 7pmDetails later in the bulletin.

Our District Governor, Lindsay May, will be joining our Club meeting on 10 September 2021. He will regale us with some of his sailing stories and experiences. This should be quite enlightening!

If any of us have people we know of who may have an interesting story to tell, please let Rob know and we may be able to arrange for them to attend a Club meeting to enlighten us all.

I am very grateful for all the hard work and commitment by everyone in our Club during these difficult times, thank you.

The Rotary Club of Chatswood Sunrise’s Pudding fundraising of previous years is on again. This year it is a joint project of the Rotary Clubs of North Ryde, Chatswood/Roseville, Northbridge, Wahroonga and Turramurra!

All proceeds will go to benefit the “Books in Homes” program at Moree East Public School, where over 80% of the students come from the Aboriginal community.

The program provides “…quality books-of-choice to children living in remote, disadvantaged and low socio-economic circumstances, ensuring crucial early literacy engagement and the development of reading skills needed for lifelong achievement.” The Rotary Clubs in Moree will be our local representatives.
