Dear Club Members and Friends,
We held a club assembly on Friday focussing on the proposed merger of the two Sydney Rotary Districts. Our thanks to AG Julie Thorpe who was able to provide information and answer members questions relating to the current discussions about the possible merger. Members voted to "Yes to continue the discussions" at the meeting.
Our vote will be taken back to District Governor Susan Wakefield who has organsised a meeting at Hornsby RSL on Saturday 27 April 2019 from 9am. This will be an opportunity to workshop the issues and address any unanswered questions. This meeting is open to all . The district vote will be taken at the Presidents’ meeting in May once clubs have had a chance to discuss the outcomes of this meeting.
The vote in May will not be to form a new District; it will be to decide Yes, we will continue the discussions and planning, or No we will not continue. A later vote will be taken once a full proposal is developed – with club input.
We were delighted to have Helmiina's father, Janne Tapani Salila attend the meeting on Friday. Janne has been with Helmiina for two weeks and heads back to Finland this week. Janne expressed his appreciation to the club for providing the opportunity for Helmiina to participate in the Exchange program in Australia. He also provided us with some delicious Finnish chocolate to enjoy!
I brought alongsome sample sizes of the new Rotary polo shirts to the meeting. We will be ordering shirts with the Club name embroidered under the Rotary logo for any members who wish to purchase one. The cost will be $38 per shirt. I will bring them long again on Friday and hope to put in a bulk order by the end of the month. Please let me know if you wish to order a shirt by Tuesday 26 March.

The first planning meeting for the North Ryde Fun Run was held on Tuesday evening. Whilst there was only a small group at the meeting we have had a great response from those willing to help in some way. We will be meeting with the University and College representatives in Robert Menzies College on Friday 22 March at 9.30a.m. following the Board Meeting.
Kind regards
