Dear  Club Members and Friends,

President Elect Mandy Van hosted the last Zoom Board meeting this Rotary year. It was a full house with Pete and Bernie Mason and Juliet Chen joining us.

I expressed my gratitude to board members and all club members who deserve all the credit for our achievements, especially Past President (PP) Pam Wood who assisted in various activities in spite of her heavy family commitments.

The caronavirus has resulted in unfinished business for this Rotary year. This includes the cancellation of membership drives and invitations to guest speakers, Dr Wendy King of MQ Health and David Romanowski, President of Ryde Toastmasters  Club. Also we have been unable to promote Corporate Membership as we had hoped.

Other issues discussed at the Board meeting were:
1 . PP Victoria Crawford  will assist in preparing club bulletin.
2 . PP David Martin will follow up  social gathering at Tilt Cafe / Old Paint Shop, Blenheim Rd North Ryde in July. There is also a possibility of commencing Club meetings again at Dunmore Lang College from August. This will be discussed further at the next Board meeting in July.
3 , Peter Mason has been nominated and accepted to be the President-elect for 2020-21.
4 . A brief handover will be held at the social dinner on Friday 26 June at Basils Seafood Restaurant. The Celebration dinner for 2019-20 has been proposed for Friday18 September at Basil's, circumstances permitting .
5 . Membership fees will increase from July to $300 payable once in July or on 2 instalments July/January. Treasurer Sandeep Rathi will email payment details to members in July.
6 . Zoom Club and Board meetings will continue from 3 July until face to face meetings can be resumed.

PP Pat Perrin will retire from Rotary from 1 July. Pat has served Rotary for 27 years at club level as well as at District level in 2001-2002.  We wish her well and hope to continue to see her at our meetings and functions from time to time as a great friend of the Rotary Club of North Ryde. We hope to officially thank and farewell Pat at our Celebration dinner which will hopefully be scheduled in September.

As this is my last message as the 42nd president of the club, I would like to thank you all for your fellowship.  The next message will be from President Mandy Van. I wish her and our club a year of good fellowship and achievements.

Regards
Mak Khalil
President 2019-20

Social Dinner at Basils Seafood Restaurant 26 June 2020
Dear Fellow Club Members,

As you will be aware we had planned on having our Rotary Club Changeover Celebration Dinner at Basil’s Restaurant on Friday 26 June. But due to COVID - 19 we have had to cancel this event.
However, to support Tim at Basil’s, and with the restrictions easing from the 1st June, we are organising a club social dinner at Basil’s on Friday 26 June, starting at 7pm.
We will be in a seperate room to the main dinning room, and Tim will arrange the seating, taking into account the Physical Distancing requirements at that time. We are hoping that between 10 and 20 people will be able to attend the dinner. The dinner is for club members and partners.

Please see attached the ‘Menu’ that Tim has provided for our dinner. Drinks can be purchased separately.

Friday 26 June at 7pm.
Have a look at the attached Menu and make your choice on the night.
Buy your own drinks.

A Message of Thanks from Warren Smith and RDA
Dear Members and Friends,
I received the following email from Warren Smith at Riding for the Disabled thanking us for our support and donation to RDA. Warren asked me to pass on his thanks to all.
Regards
Pam Wood
Past President 2018-19

Hi Pam,
I trust you and all your Rotarians are safe and well in this crazy pandemic. Just wanted to thank you and everyone at your Club again for the generous donation.
Today the monthly report was emailed to members and it included recent donations. I was so pleased to see your donation highlighted so now you are even more famous at RDA Ryde.
Bumped into Kalma recently while out shopping and she tells me nearly every Rotary has been successful at meeting online. This does not surprise me as Rotarians are "can do" people and inspire everyone around them.

I know I have learnt so much new technology and done so many online courses during this lockdown. I even have a certificate from World Health Organisation for knowing how to wash my hands properly.
RDA Ryde is now in the planning stage of working out a limited start back for some therapy sessions. Our volunteers have continued to feed, love and keep training our horses so they are ready to go as soon as we can.
Times are tough for getting donations during this lockdown so your wonderful donations was so gratefully received.

Please pass on our thanks to all your lovely people.
Thank you.
Best wishes
Warren Smith
Centenary of Rotary In Australia

Rotary’s Centenary is a time of celebration!  It Is a time to reflect on our past, and take pride in all that has been achieved.  It is a time we play our part in the history of Rotary.

Our centenary is also the time to lay the foundations for our future, as we still have much to do.  The key project in our centenary year will focus on stopping the one in 16 children who die in 9 Pacific nations before the age of five.

We invite you to join Rotarians across Australia on 10th July for virtual fellowship, as well as meet our R100 Centenary Ambassadors, the Governor General and Mrs Hurley, as they launch our national centenary campaign.  By joining us, you will witness the “Passing the Baton” ceremony.  The baton that will carry the symbols of our centenary and will travel far and wide across Rotary clubs and Districts.

We wanted to take the opportunity of sharing with you the video that our Ambassadors have provided and you are welcome to share this with your Districts and Clubs. In fact we would encourage you to do so.

We ask for your support in helping us raise funds for our R100 Centenary project, "Rotary Give Every Child a Future"; saving young lives in Pacific nations.

Please expect registration details on how you can join within the next week.

We look forward to you joining in and making your mark on history!

Kind regards,

Garry Browne
