Board Games

The first Board Meeting of the new Board was held last Wednesday.   President Maggie had an unheard of objective – to limit the meeting to one hour.

It may go down in the folk lore of the Club because she achieved it. And there were some meaty topics, too.
 
Highlights of the Board’s resolutions included:
  • Approval of the Budget for the new Financial Year (with high hopes for a great result in our new North Ryde Fun Run on 19 October! – to which everyone really needs to put in the diary now.  If you can’t run we will have a job for you!!)
  • Update on a new Pat Perrin-inspired project – a Car Boot Sale on 25 October – and as Pat put it “We will need all hands on deck because we will have a lot to sell and all day to do it”
  • Good news on the Membership Fee front – inflation has not bitten (yet) and fees will remain at $250
  • An update on the possibility of a merger with Macquarie Park Club – as highlighted in our President's message this weeek, we will hold a Club Assembly to which ALL members are not only invited but encouraged to attend on 15 August to discuss the issue and to decide whether we wish to merge or not.  This is one of the few "must attend" club breakfast meetings because our future will be talked about.
  • A new Club Business Plan was approved which sets the priorities for the coming year
  • A couple of housekeeping matters were addressed including old and new account signatories – someone has to do it!  The Board also talked about the costs associated with Exchange Students – especially costs of their attendance at school while in Australia and the view was that this should be something that the parents of the student should be responsible for.
  • Financial results for Financial Year 2013-14 were tabled – noting that these have yet to be audited, the bottom line is that the year was pretty good with the Club achieving what it set out to achieve and more ... especially with the energy of Phill Isaacs and his ability to winkle out funds from any available crevice.
All this done and dusted in one hour ... go Board members!
