End of an Era
Cleaning out the New Horizons storage area. After nearly 20 years of storing a lot of our equipment and supplies (mainly for the Carols) at New Horizons we had to clear it out as they needed the lock up area for secure storage for other items. We have been very fortunate to have had such a good relationship with New Horizons over the years and have been very thankful to be able to use the storage. We will of course continue that relationship and assist them when we can.
We are also fortunate to be able to store our equipment etc at Kennards' Gladesville.
We had a band of willing workers, a borrowed trailer (thanks Rob) and two vans. Thankfully we were able to take everything we wanted to keep to Kennards. Room had been made as we had taken all the books to the scouts about a month before. Unfortunately there were some items which we had to dispose of as they had come to the end of their usefulness for us. Ross Rocca and Louis Jacquot from Macquarie Park were able to use their vans to take those items to the tip, recycling or other new homes. A very big thank you for their help.
It was heavy and dusty work in some respects but with a team headed by Garry Maloney, Rob Wilkinson, David Martin, Peter Mason, Ian Crawford, Victoria Crawford and Ross and Louis we were able to finish the work in a couple of hours. There will be a call for assistance in the near future to re-organise the Kennards' lockup to ensure easy access.
