On Tuesday 18 October 2022, 6.30pm, Lane Cove Rotary are delighted to host PP Tom Sweeney OAM (Crows Nest) to talk about his life as a music entertainer and big show producer.
Many will know Tom as; compere of District Conferences, presenter on PR, Media and the Macquarie Park Cemeterys' famous residents.
Tom’s presentation called “Let’s Put On A Show” is a behind the scenes look at how a musical actually gets on the stage!
Tom joined the then Willoughby Musical Society in 1969 and started directing musicals in 1978. Since then, Tom has directed over 40 productions for Willoughby and another 20 for other companies, including the Australian premier of Zorba, Meet Me in St Louis, Titanic, The Scarlet Pimpernel and directed the NSW premier of “Strictly Ballroom”.
Now past President of Willoughby Theatre Company (2004), Tom and his wife Joy, also an accomplished director and costume designer, spend most of their leisure time involved with the theatre.
Tom Sweeney is Past President of the Rotary Club of Crows Nest and a PHF, and has been a Rotarian since 1999. He has compered at least five District Conferences and District Change Over dinners.
