I am writing this letter to you from our office which is no longer in a COVID lockdown bunker. It does feel good to be able to go that bit further and as such Bernie and I did venture to the vast country lands of Yamba (vast compared to Sydney confines) for a little break. This was very relaxing with mostly beautiful weather. Thank you to Sandeep and Rajesh, as we lit our little lamp you gave us, on 4 November. Let us all hope this ‘opening up’ does keep progressing so we can enjoy a ‘face to face’ Christmas with our loved ones.
In our absence I noticed Rob had invited 2 inspiring guest speakers and I do hope you all enjoyed sharing in their knowledge, advice and ideas. There is our Club assembly this Friday morning with the usual 7:15am joining for the 7:30am start.
Please advise your family, friends and colleagues that orders for the Christmas puddings are slightly delayed and are now scheduled to arrive in early December, we will then arrange for these to be distributed. There is about a total of $8,000 worth of orders that have been forwarded on to the Pudding Company to be filled and it appears they have been overwhelmed with the support. This is a great result in support of the literacy program at Moree East Public School. Thanks for this advice, Bob.
Please be reminded about the upcoming
Mercedes Benz Car Club breakfast at Lane Cove National Park on the morning of
28 November 2021. Our Club will be providing a
breakfast BBQ of egg and bacon rolls for their social get together. Please let Garry know your availability
email: Garry.maloney@hotmail.com mobile 0426230458. Thank you, Garry.
I want to thank everyone who helped in making the
BBQ at the Gladesville Bunnings store last Saturday, 13 November, such a success.
See here for photos. Sandeep advises all that hard work made
about $1,615.00. This is a great result after the long day's effort.
Another BBQ at Gladesville Bunnings is arranged for
15 January 2022. Put this in your diary and let Garry know of your availability for the day.
A Christmas event has been arranged by Eliza at Gladesville Bunnings store for charitable/non-profit groups such as our Rotary Club to promote ourselves. This is scheduled for the evening/night of 9 December 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. There will be a spinning wheel with prizes for a gold coin donation as a fund raiser for our Club on the night. We need to have some volunteers to be available at our stall and to engage with the visitors as a possible membership drive.
Remember that our Annual Celebration dinner is arranged for 3 December 2021 at Basil’s Seafood Restaurant. This will be a fun night to meet up with our friends and others in our local area in a relaxed and casual place. Please let Garry know of your attendance or not and any guests you may be bringing with you, by Friday 19 December as confirmation is required by the restaurant.
The Christmas Tree of Joy has now been installed at North Ryde Cox’s Road Mall. Pam has put the tags for the requested gifts on the tree. Let us all get in the Christmas spirit and help in collecting the gifts when they are returned to the tree and moving these to the storage room. Later in December, help will also be required for sorting and delivering to our local charities. Thanks for your work, Pam.
There is a progress meeting to be held this Thursday evening, 18 November, at T.G. Millner football fields on Vimeria Road, for the Christmas Carols planning committee. The stage, lighting and sound people are arranged, and the food vendors are being contacted. Roseanna has also been in contact with the entertainment parties/dancers. A great poster/flyer has been produced for advertising of the event.
These planning meetings have been very positive, and everyone involved is very keen for the Christmas Carols event to proceed, to help the local community to return to a sense of a normal life. All is progressing well for a fun evening on 19 December.
I am very grateful for all the hard work and commitment by everyone in our Club during these difficult times, thank you.
