This year’s Rotary Winter RYPEN camp was held at the Katoomba Christian Convention Centre.

The camp ran from Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June. Our Rotary Club sponsored 2 students from Marsden High School, Natalie and Rico to attend this year’s camp.

Friday was registration day, and Natalie arrived with her father Andy and Rico with her mother Mai. Registration involved being allocated the coloured team that they were in for the weekend and where their rooms were. Amanda Barnes, from the Social Impact Network, was there to help with the registrations.

Krissie Webb, the ROTARACT Chair, was standing in for Michele Ellery, who was attending the Rotary International Convention in Taipei, as the Camp Mother and welcomed everyone for the weekend.

The camp finished on Sunday with a lunch and an informal graduation ceremony. A couple of ex Rotary Exchange Students spoke at the graduation about their experiences of Exchange and to think about this for the students attending RYPEN, and for the parents of the RYPEN students to keep in mind.

We look forward to having Natalie and Rico attend a club meeting to tell us all about their RYPEN experience.
