North Ryde Fun Run Update 14 March 2014
North Ryde Fun Run Project Update
- The Organising Committee has met 4 times so far this year. Andrew Carson has become the University Village representative in place of Elle York.
- We still need to recruit some interns - we need a student Project Manager, Marketing & Sponsorship Manager, an Operations Manager and an IT Manager.
- We have 2 volunteers from the Village – Dan and Naomi.
- I have talked to a student from RMC who may be interested in the Operations Manager role and there is another prospect for the Marketing and Sponsorship.
- Annette and Pat have started to contact prospective sponsors. They already have pledges for the Community Donation of $250 from 2 sponsors but have received knock backs from AstraZeneca and Optus unfortunately. Optus will promote the event for us to their employees, however.
- The Branding Design Competition to produce a logo, colour palette and typeface for our visual identity started on 28 February. It closes on 28 March. So far there are no entries or enquiries. The colleges have put up posters and Mike and I have put some up around the university environs. We plan to hand out leaflets at lunchtime later this week. We may need to call on some help. Any volunteers?
What's Next?
- An online Survey has been constructed to start to design the event itself. A workshop will be held on 24 March to gather input to the design outlining the type of runs, entertainment, merchandise, food and drinks we want to have there.
- I have developed the high-level project plan.
- Next month we need to judge the Branding Design Competition, if we get entries. If not, we will have to find a marketing company to help.
- We need to continue to work on gaining sponsorship to fund our website and marketing of the event.
